We traveled to Seattle for an appointment with Dr. Walker
last Monday. Tuesday’s appointment was another ultrasound to measure fluid, Doppler,
and growth for the babies. The twins, of course, are the focus of most of the attention.
William is measuring in the 77% percentile at 9 oz. Jackson
is ginormous and is measuring in the 98% percentile at 11 oz. That was a
shocker! This only makes the difference between he and his twin more stark. Heston
is measuring at 5 oz and is in the 10% percentile.
While he is still very small, the doctor was again pleased
with his movement and he made adequate growth over the two weeks! Our boy is a fighter.
However, their fluid levels were elevated so much that Dr.
Walker felt it necessary to keep us in Seattle for two days to monitor any
changes. If they shifted any more, he wanted to do surgery to separate the
twins and prevent any further issues with TTTS. Needless to say, that was
concerning.
We had another check up on Thurs. Their fluid levels were
more balanced, much to our relief. No surgery for me!
Dr. Walker is requesting that I am monitored more closely in
Boise (unless I am willing to relocate to Seattle and have him do it…). So, now
I get to go to the doctor in Boise twice a week to monitor fluid levels, Doppler,
and growth. It is pretty clear now what
we are looking for, and so we should not have to return to Seattle unless we
need surgery. Heston continues to be our concern. We will closely watch his
growth to make sure he is getting enough of what he needs.
